Hey Guys! If any of you want to do the pre-registration thing for anime boston and are interested in the group rate ($40) please read on. [Or if you know anyone who would be interested please forward them this message.]

The Harvard Anime Society (HAS) has 5 slots left to make a group rate and they will be paying through paypal (for the March 18th deadline). If you are going and are located in the cambridge/boston area and have not pre-registered HAS is offering to include you in their group pre-reg if you contact them by March 14th. see: www.hcs.harvard.edu/~anime

If you have issues with housing they will try and help you out with that (either by use of dorms or sharing a hotel room with their members).

Email them for more information and specifics at: anime@hcs.harvard.edu, silva2@fas.harvard.edu, or leave me a reply here.

[ mood | anxious ]

I'm posting this here since I know ALOT of anime fans listen to Jrock and Visual Kei as well :o SO here goes nothing!

I don't know how many of you knew about this but BLOOD, Japan's premier Visual Kei/Goth band, is performing @ The Middle East in Cambridge on March 11th! Here's the banner:

Darkest Labyrinth Vol. 1

you can get tickets @ The Middle East box office. just go to www.mideastclub.com for directions but it's really easy. Just take the red line T and get off at Central Square. The club is a minute walk from the t stop, right on Mass ave :D~ I saw them live last August in New York and their performance was amazing! So I totally recomend going to the show! Any questions at all, please feel free to ask! ^^

Help Get Me Printed!! [20 May 2006|01:51pm]

Hey guys, I really need your help! I just submitted a design to Threadless and I'm trying to get my t-shirt design made. It would reeeeeeally mean a lot to me if you guys would go and vote for my design.

It's really simple. All you have to do is create an account, then go to my submission (the link is at the bottom of this post) and give it a score (0-5, hopefully you'll give me a 5!). Creating an account is free, and they won't send you any spam e-mail as long as you don't join their newsletter. Besides, it's a cool site. You might just like it!

Thanks once again you guys. Your help would mean a lot to me!

My submission is at the following url:

So, I have 0 people signed up, besides myself. Please join. It would make me super happy. And you might end up making a really cool friend, or more.

Thank you and sorry for the advertisement:)

And she was Vincent. She did a great job as him, and I wanted to do a FF7 group with her at next years anime boston. Does anyone know her by any chance? =/ She was wicked cool and I'd love to talk to her again. >.

New anime complete! [08 Jan 2005|10:28am]

I've been busy lately with anime goodness.

I've watched Now and Then Here and There, and have begun to watch Urusei Yatsura and the original Sailor Moon series. Sailor Moon was the first anime I'd ever seen, but I used to watch it on TV and I would only catch it somedays, so I didn't know the full story.

As you probably know, Urusei Yatsura has a TON of discs. So far I have bought 6 of them, and it's getting expensive! Does anyone know a good place to get used Urusei Yatsura dvd's; either online or stores? I'd even be willing to rent them. (yes, I have tried ebay and amazon.com; both charge around 15.00 for the dvd and shipping) I'm having trouble even FINDING a store that carries this series.

Also, I want to divulge a piece of info if people weren't aware; Netflix has a very extensive selection of anime for rental. Netflix DOES have the Urusei Yatsura movies, just not the series. They have full box sets of lots of anime series. I've already added Trigun, Evangelion, Sailor Moon Super S, Jubei Chan, GTO, etc. If you like to experiment with different anime and you're tired of buying box sets, spend 18 bucks a month and rent unlimited anime. (with Netflix, they give you 3 at a time, then when your discs are returned, they send you more from your list)

I'm also looking for some possible cosplay items; either Yuna from Final Fantasy, or Lum from Urusei Yatsura. I found a bunch of Yuna pieces on eBay, but none for Lum. Any ideas?

I appreciate help [17 Nov 2004|09:49pm]

[ mood | tired ]

Hello fellow Bostonian anime fans. I am Helen, aka slvrfairewngs, and I am currently working on an article for class that involves anime. It's a trend article about the increased Japanese influence on American entertainment through anime, movies, and video games. I need 3 to 6 sources that back up my claim. I've thought of a few but I was wondering if anyone out there might be have any better ideas since I've only come up with two solid ones and a few other ones that stand less chance of actually working out. So if anyone can think of someone I can talk to that will be able to say "yes, more people here are intrested in these things" and are in a position where they can see this trend please reply to this post or email me.

Also, I noticed on the Anime Network website there was Cosplay chess at Harvard??? I have to say, I'm sorry I missed it. It sounds like something that would be amusing and awsome to see. Did anyone go?

Ummm. Hi. So...I figured since I just joined, I'll introduce myself. *shrugs* not like I've anything better to do.

Name: Jondy
Age: 18
Occ: BU Frehsman
Fav. Anime: Oho...at the moment, it's a tie between SuperGALS!, Naruto, and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon- and yes, I know the last one isn't an anime, but it's live action based on an anime darnit, and it's just so corny and cute.
Fav. Manga: STILL The Boys Next Door, Akuma de Sourou, Hot Gimmick, and FY: Genbu Kaiden.Oh yeah, and Tokyo Crazy Paradise.
Fav. Manga-ka: I would just like to say I'm in love with Rumiko Takashi, Yuki Kaori, Ai Yazawa, and Yu Watase.

Eh...that's about all. I've been into anime/manga for six or seven years, yes, I have been to Japan, yes, I have been to cons- mostly in Jersey, because that's where I come from when I'm not in college. Um...yeah. My favorite characters of all time would be Ukyo Kuonji from Ranma 1/2 and Tsukasa Domyouji from Boys Over Flowers...er...

I've probably written too much for an intro already, but yeah...bored. *waves* So, Hi! And now, Bye!

Yay for anime fans in boston.

Occupation: Fullfillment services (don't ask)

About me:
I am originally from the midwest, but i moved here because i like cold weather. I'm an affection whore and love cuddling snuggling. Just can't get enough of it. I've seen and i own, waaay too many animes to put up here in a bio. My fave animes are Slayers, Scryed, elhazard, and Kenshin. Not necessarily in that order though. I only got into buying manga about 3 years ago, so i don't own much of that. I have Kenshin, Slayers, Ragnarok, Real bout highschool, king of hell, Azumanga daioh, and Magic knight rayearth. I'm also a shoujo fan. And most definatly a clamp fanboy. They make such good stuff. In fact, i can't think of anything Clamp has ever put their name on that i don't like. Cept maybe x the movie (X the tv series rocks though). I will be going to animeboston 05 and always try to go to at least 3 cons a year. Animeboston, Otakon, and usually i just pick another random one depending on my funds.

I'm sorry that I have to spam on my first post, but I thought this might interest you all.

You can check to see whats appropriate, the idea of "cosplay" is loosely defined here, so you can wear thinks like lolita, j-rock and Kimonos and things, and of course any kind of fancy orginal.

Sound good? I'm sorry again to spam ^^;

But anyway, about me...since it is my first post.

im a bad, bad admin.... [01 Jul 2004|10:41pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

yea, i know... i havent put nething here in a long time. ill be putting some stuff on the website in a min, so yea. um.

ive been reading alot of manga lately and i really like Gunslinger Girl, Negima and Gate Keepers. I also really really like the anime of Gunslinger Girl. Quick over view on that - girls that cannot possibly have a normal life (disfigured, disabled, otherwise) are taken by the "social welfare agency" and given cybernetic bodies, although they still look like young girls. they are trained to use guns and each have a specific brother (fratello). it is based in italy, so alot of italian is incorporated. its good. if u liked the art and humor in Love Hina, Negima is a good choice (Ken Akamatsu's new manga!) i also really like Bakuretsu Tenshi (hehe, my user pic...) yea. its pretty much about these 4 chicks that go around saving the earth, and a bumbling teenage guy that stumbles across them. i like it. i guess thats about it for now.

check Anime Boston 2005 anime_boston out for registering for 2005. it costs less if u do it now (i still have to, but i will soon ^__^). yup.

Incase anyone's interested, I just listed the cowboy bebop movie DVD on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6303544823
I would love to have kept the movie, but I really really need some extra money as I'm between jobs and having a hard time making ends meet.
